No US Ground Troops in libya

President Barack Obama said that United States would not put ground troops in Libya. "As I promised from the beginning, the role of U.S. forces is limited. We did not put ground troops in Libya," Obama said in a radio announcement on Saturday (26 / 3).

Russian envoy to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said earlier on Saturday that any military operations in Libya's by foreign countries will be considered as an occupation. "Conducting military operations onshore Libya will be considered as an occupation and it is so contrary to the resolution endorsed by the UN Security Council," said Rogozin told RIA Novosti.

UN Security Council imposed on Libya's no-fly zone on 17 March. The resolution also permits any action necessary to protect civilians from attack Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi in cities controlled by insurgents.

A number of operations to enforce no-fly zone, code-named "Odyssey Dawn", being conducted jointly by 13 countries, including USA, UK and France. Although U.S. aid in the first command to apply the no-fly zone, they are under pressure to be transferred to NATO command duties.

"Our military mission in Libya is clear and focused. Together with allies and partners, we apply the mandate of the UN Security Council. We protect people of Libya from Gaddafi's forces . And we impose no-fly zone and a few other steps to prevent further atrocities," Obama said .

Western warplanes have flown more than 300 crisis over the North African country. They fired 162 Tomahawk missiles. Libyan state media have reported that dozens of people have been killed by air attack
